Pros
- Multitouch (this implies further, read below for why)
- Looks
Height: 0.16-0.76 inch (0.4-1.94 cm)
Width: 12.8 inches (32.5 cm)
Depth: 8.94 inches (22.7 cm)
- Weight - 3lbs
- External Superdrive (I mean, who uses cds/dvds anymore anyway?)
- SSD Option
- X3100 Graphics 144MB
Cons
- NO REMOTE!!!!!!!!
- Built-in 1.8" 80GB drive means SUCKY DRIVE, what are the RPMS and
Seek Times?
This is basically an iPod Video drive implanted into a
Laptop!!!
- This thing is not a Mini Macbook Pro machine, this is a glorified
Macbook. (no stereo speakers, no firewire!!! , no expresscard
slot, and that awful stupid new keyboard that is found on
Macbooks)
- Speed. The speed is expected but still lame.
- No Ethernet
- No Firewire
- No Expresscard slot
- 1980's speaker system (MONO)
- One I/O port for Audio
- BUILT IN BATTERY.... what is this, an iPod?
- $999 UPGRADE TO SSD 64GB .... uh........ uh......... someone put me
into the Mindbending Machine from Zak McKraken quick!
- Apple Store offers FCx4 ... but, uh.... Steve.... there's no
FireWIRE!!!
Ultimately, this is a laptop for aesthetics and everyone else can
just wait for the Macbook Pro that is forthcoming.
I mean, think about it... multitouch pad means and new MB and MBP are
coming with those same features.... and I think it's possible that the
macbook/macbook pro might be in for a redesign. Nothing like the
'Air', but thin is in .... and we can expect new portables within
weeks. Probably sometime after the Air is shipped and beyond return
date (14 days).
That awful keyboard means this really isn't the successor to the 12"
Powerbook. This is not part of the pro line.
I think this leaves room for a Macbook Pro Tablet. After all, tablet
features are not for everyone. Only those who need it for lectures
and some other non-common uses. I.E. Dental Students taking
important medical notes over PDFS during lecture (my wife has a R200
Windows tablet (Thanks alot Apple!!).
Inkwell, Apple, Inkwell! When are you going to make it a useful
builtin feature ....
